The Indiana Piss Incident (Warped Tour 09)

Hello,

So I've been sitting here for a few minutes deciding if I really wanted to try and write a summary of my yesterday at Warped Tour in Indy and I think I might find a way to push though it and I'm going to try and make it interesting. First off if you are interested in seeing pictures of you can go here and check them out, they are made into really cool slide shows so that should keep your interest for a few minutes and after that you can read the story here. Or vice versa, it's totally up to you. But I will begin.

To really tell you a good story I must start the story with a prelude to the actually events that were Warped Tour 09, seeing as the story really started the night before. It all starts in the town of Columbia City with a friend of mine I like to call kid but for all sakes of story telling will call her her real name of Whitley and her house, the place where my sister and I would call bed for the next two nights. Yet again kid, I would like to thank you for giving me a place to sleep and stay again, you are a friend unlike the world has seen for a long time and I am grateful to you. And I can't lie I was excited to sleep on a bed on the floor. That's the kind of thing that really gets me off, that and glasses. Oh the mind I have but this is not story worthy today, next time what gets me off. That sounds really sick, I'm sorry. Anyways at Whitley's we decided a month or so ago that we needed to have a sort of after the 4th of July party type ordeal so we went with a group containing her, Richie(her boyfriend), my sister and me. This meant instant shenanigans and it also meant that we need to find fireworks. Now any other time before this time I remember firework stores being around, trying to sell of merchandise days after the 4th, but hardly no luck this year if not for a gas station selling them as cheap prices. After a few buy 1 get 2 frees we needed a lighter, being as none of us smoke so we wouldn't have one to begin with so we headed to buy one and get to some fire working. Now fireworks those are pretty self explanatory but not what happen to me while doing them, ok to be honest it wasn't an actual firework how I hurt myself it was actually the burning end of a sparkler, I stepped on it, burned my foot. Ended up being a pretty bad blister, it's what I get for thinking I didn't need to wear shoes while messing with fire things. A lesson learn for years and years to come. During the next few hours before morning and after the burning you have the obvious needles to feet, sleeping, waking up, showering, what-have-you-what-nots and we head to go get someone else, someone named Kelli. Hello Kelli, we now add you to this equation of a day. And now at this point you have the obligatory driving south part and the first excitement of the day, also known as a truck stop. What an amazing truck stop, I guess by all figures it's your average truck stop but we're not at every truck stop so this one is special. All sorts of things you find at these kinds of places, some expected and some well I even got surprised. It came in the form of a hat, a Fall Out Boy hat, an old one too for only 5 dollars so I had to buy it. Have to support that Chicago softcore. After this we are back on the road, we're almost there. Of course we get a little lost, we always get a little lost and find our way to where we're going, it always works out in the end which means we found our way to the right amphitheatre in the middle of nowhere and were at Warped Tour. We get a parking spot, we lather up in sunblock, I buy a book from a Monk for two dollars (someone's got to save me), we get felt up by security and I'm made to throw my gatorade away, we wait in line to get inside. Standing outside you can see the first stage from outside, which means you see the first bands of the day setting up, that first band happen to be Alexisonfire. I get excited, I decide that I need to write bands for set times but I have no paper, I have a dollar though and it'll do the job for me. Thank you United States of America for giving me something to write on and deface. Finally we get inside and get to the set times, I write them down as I see them and we make our way to Alexisonfire. Alexisonfire was amazing, it was everything I hoped for but we must move because also going on at this time is another band I wanted to see, some Dear And The Headlights I say yes please. We find them for a few songs and like before I am impressed and happy. We walk around alittle after Dear And The Headlights and do your normal checking around, see this tent, find this place, maybe check this out. And then get to Chiodos, I've seen them a couple times and this time they were pretty good, I've seen them better before maybe it's the egos. Maybe it's not them, maybe it's me, I have done alittle growing up and changing over the last time I saw them. I guess screaming doesn't always ring the same with age. After them we get ready for Underoath, now they have been very very elusive the last few years. It's either been missing them or they drop off because of problems or just some other problems, but this year Underoath is not to be missed again. I'm glad I have friends that are cool enought to stand up for themselves and decide to skip Underoath, this isn't their kind of band and so they walk around. Before the band starts I see a tent that interests me, oh Atticus Clothing how you and me have had a past together. I check out the gear and get a shirt, a comp cd and a bunch of free stickers. Thank you Atticus, I like your clothes and what you stand for keep supporting the kids and bands and you'll keep my interest. But now we have Underoath beginning, boy this has been a long time in the making and it was good, really good. They sound great, I buy a 4 dollar water and all is good. The set is over and my sister and me go walking to find Whitley and Kelli again, besides the watching bands thing I like warped because you can just walk around and see people and all sorts of things that happen no where else. During this time I get a text from Kelli telling me that I have a ticket waiting for me for something that's going to be huge, blink-182, for only $10. I thank you many times kid for getting that for me and I will pay you back for it the next time I see you. We all find each other again and now it is time for Bayside, they like Underoath have been missed by me before. Out of all the bands this day I have to say that Bayside delievered the best set of the day, sounded great and just all out entertained me and everyone else. At this point it is like 3 in the afternoon and we've already seen some 5 bands. That's pretty good for 4 hours. We continue to talk around again, we use my phone to get free wristbands, I tell a guy to shove his $10 ep in which you get "free" water all day by saying I'd piss in his mouth for free in which he says the same back to me, we find the ampitheatre and sit for a while. We see Hit The Lights, alittle Meg and Dia man they are cute and we have to make a bathroom and water refill. At this point we have a few hours to kill as we now are waiting for Scary Kids Scaring Kids, I don't think they have ever really been to Indiana so we need to see them. This is getting alittle ahead of time. For the next 3 or so hours we are having some ska and crunkcore beat into us. Kelli, Whitley and me decide that being a crunkcore band is so easy we could do it, all you need is a keyboard and keytar and scream and you've got it. Man that was a horrible band. We stop by a stage and try to figure out why a band like Aiden is even still around, those guys are washed up and we all laugh at them because of their fall from once playing a main stage to a now pretty much local band stage and I play rock-paper-scissors against some local band that says on their sign that they can beat anyone. Now if you are going to say that you better bring it and they didn't, I win straight up and get a sweaty hug and they change their sign. We sit for a long while and just talk, how often is it that you just have time to just sit and talk like you used to? Not as often anymore, we live in different places and do different things but for today we are all together. Kelli and Whitley eat 8 dollar chicken and fries, I stagger around messing with trees, there are ants everywhere and mulch all over my underwear. We get around to walking again just because we want to see everything again before we see SKSK and leave, I buy a another shirt, one from Keep A Breast because well I love boobies. Haha, you see what I did there. We watch Flogging Molly as we wait, now I'm not totally into that kind of thing, I don't know if any of us are but it was amusing. And now we head to watch Scary Kids Scaring Kids, they were good but man the vocal mix was way too loud every so often killing my ears. They are done and we are leaving, get in the car and start to drive back north. On our travel back we listen to some blink-182 and get hyped for August, after so many years I'll get to see them in about a month, did I mention that I really want to thank you kid. We stop along the way at a Taco Bell, cheap and good because we are all almost broke and well I like it anyways. I tell the cashier that I like her name and she blushes, her name was Kirby what was I suppost to say I did like it. We make it back to Whitley's house a.k.a. my bed again for this night and we talk for a while and go to sleep. Besides thanking for the tickets I have to thank you Whitley for letting my sister and I stay at your house, you kid are truely something amazing and I don't know what I'd do without you around. I wake up and realize the only sun burn I have is contained to the back of my neck, didn't think of putting sunblock there and the top of my head. We all wake up and talk for awhile, mess around and then come home. A pretty good day spent with some pretty good people making for a awesome all round time. Thank you again kid, really.
